During November, Compass and Studium Generale are bringing to you the Trans History Exhibition as a commemoration of our Lustrum year! π₯³π
"The exhibition, created by historian Alex Bakker and IHLIA, tells the story of the long road from exclusion and prejudice to emancipation and recognition. Seventy years of history of trans people in the Netherlands π³οΈββ§οΈπ³π± comes together in a visually rich exhibition with life-size portrait photos, film interviews and unique objects. Personal stories show the courage people have (had) to be themselves, contrary to social images and expectations."
Chloe van den Heuvel, of Compass: βFor our five-year anniversary, we seized the opportunity to do something big and to bring this exhibition to Eindhoven in collaboration with Studium Generale. The exhibition is for everyone, and the local transgender community has also contributed heirlooms to the exhibition to make it even more personal. We hope that everyone who visits the exhibition can learn something from it and that experiencing this exhibition contributes to the acceptance of trans people in our society.βπ€
If you want to learn more about Transgender History in The Netherlands, you won't want to miss the opening ceremony of the exhibition next Wednesday the 16th of November, or visit it until Tuesday the 13th of December!
